Robert Morris rebounded from their loss Friday to Central Connecticut State by defeating Bryant Sunday 10-7.

Women’s Lacrosse:

Mar. 13

RMU 4 (4-2) Oregon 16 (5-1 MPSF 1-1): Robert Morris lost for the first time since their season opening loss back in February Friday night as they took on Oregon at Pape Field in Eugene, Oregon. Oregon jumped on the Colonials early in the contest and led at halftime 8-2. RMU’s two first half goals came from Junior Emily Jamison. Jamison’s two-goal effort gave her five multi-goal games on the year. Sophomore Katie Breeze and Junior Jessica Karwcki provided the Colonials with two more goals in the second half with each getting one goal. Two RMU goalies split time in net as Mackenzie Duffy made the start saving five balls and then Hallie Yancey played the second half saving three shots that made her way. RMU got out shot by the Ducks 30-14.

 

Softball: Miami Invitational:

Mar. 14

RMU 3 (9-11), North Dakota 17 (4-15): The Colonials opened their third day of the Miami Invitational on Oxford, Ohio with a 17-3 loss to North Dakota. North Dakota got right down to business immediately as the game opened as they scored seven runs in the first inning. The only inning the Colonials could push runs across was in the third and Ashley Gerhart, Tess Apke and Kristen Gabelt were credited with one RBI each in the inning. However, North Dakota got nine more runners across the plate in the fourth inning to seal the deal. Jordan Gurganus led the Colonials in hits with two. Haileigh Stocks (3-3) received the loss for the Colonials as she gave up 11 runs striking out one batter.

 

RMU 1 (10-11), Miami (Ohio) 0 (10-8): RMU saw themselves in a much closer game against Miami of Ohio in their second game Saturday in the Miami Invitational. RMU got their only run, which turned out to be the winning run in the second inning on a Samantha Santillo RBI that scored Kristen Gabelt who reached base on a walk earlier in the inning. Tess Apke got two hits to lead the Colonials in hits for the contest. Senior Nicole Sleith had an impressive performance in the circle as she got the two hit shutout improving her season record to 7-7.

 

Mar. 15

RMU 3 (11-11) Oakland 0 (9-12): The Colonials picked up their third win and second straight shutout Sunday morning as they defeated Oakland with a score of 3-0 in the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. The game was scoreless until RMU was able to push a run across in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. RMU would then receive two more runs in the six inning to take 3-0 lead. Robert Morris saw Tess Apke finish with a three-hit game as well as scoring one RBI. Ashley Gerhart received the other two RBI’s for the Colonials. Nicole Sleith picked up her eight win on the season as she received her second straight shutout in the tournament.

 

RMU 5 (12-11) Detroit 0 (1-17): The Colonials wrapped up their play in the Miami Invitational late Sunday morning on a positive note as they recorded their second win against Detroit on the weekend. RMU scored three runs in their bottom half of the first inning to get them off to a quick offensive start. RMU had three players who finished with two hits, Sophomore Jordan Gurganus, Sophomore Stacey Capp, and Junior Ashley Gerhart who finished with a homerun as well. Kristen Gabelt received credit for three RBI in which one came via a homerun. Nicole Sleith got the start once again for the Colonials and she was able to get her third straight shutout as she struck out 11 of Detroit’s batters and did not give up a free pass.
