As the days grow closer to the impending school year and college hockey season and further from the supposed July 31 fundraising deadline for the Robert Morris hockey teams, more players continue to find new homes.

The most recent player to find a new landing spot comes from the men’s hockey team in forward Justin Addamo, who joins Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

RPI gains a physical power forward with Addamo standing at 6-foot-6 who also can find the back of the net. In his junior season with the Colonials, Addamo tied for third in team goals, scoring eight in 21 games for a total of 15 points.

With his scoring ability, Addamo can also contribute to the power play for the Engineers just as he did for RMU. Over his three seasons of collegiate hockey, Addamo provided nine goals on the man advantage. This included a team-leading four power-play goals this past season as he helped the Colonials jump to a potent 25-percent success rate on the man advantage.

Not only will Addamo bring his physicality and goal-scoring prowess to the ECAC, but he also supplies RPI as an experienced forward that has also played on winning clubs. The Colonials clinched the Western Division last season in Atlantic Hockey.

Last season, RPI opted to not play any games due to concerns regarding COVID-19. The season prior, in 2019-20, the Engineers finished 13-8-1 in ECAC play, posting one of their best conference records in recent memory before their postseason tournament was canceled.

As anticipation grows towards the start of the college hockey season and RPI players and fans are eager to return to the ice, Addamo will be a player who will become a household name for Engineer fans soon.
