Koby Thomas named NEC Rookie of the Year

Today freshman forward Koby Thomas of the Robert Morris Colonials men’s basketball team was named NEC 2018 Rookie of the year.

Thomas has played a total of 820 minutes since beginning his career at Robert Morris University. He has started all 31 games for RMU in the 2017-2018 season.  He averages 12.3 points and seven rebounds a game. Thomas is sixth in the NEC for rebounds per game and 18th for scoring.

During this season Thomas collected 218 rebounds, and in 18 games he reached double figures in points, as well as collecting three double-doubles.

Thomas also received the honor of being placed on the 2018 All- NEC Rookie Team while his fellow teammate, Dachon Burke earned second-team All-NEC honors.

Thomas was four-time rookie of the week during the duration of this season. Thomas has been an influential player in the duration of this season. This proving that Thomas has not gone by unnoticed. The head coaches of the NEC vote for the rookie of the year, meaning that everywhere the Colonials have gone, Thomas has made an impression.

Thomas was one of the two Colonials to be honored by the NEC for his efforts and excellence in his sport.
