A group of students from Dr. Ann Jabro’s Event Planning class hosted a bingo event to raise money for domestic violence awareness through Women In Christian Ministries Inc. The event featured raffle baskets, mocktails, and prizes for the bingo winners.

The raffle baskets included an RMU Spirit Store basket, a European Wax Center basket, a basket from the RMU Counseling Center, a lottery ticket basket, and a self-care item basket. Four different varieties of mocktails and bottled water was sold for $1.

Junior Cassie Norton said regarding the event, “I took the event planning class because I wanted to learn what it was like to plan events and we picked this group because we believed it was for a good cause, it has been stressful but worth it, thank you for everyone who decided to donate we appreciate it very much.”

The event began with junior Madison Craycraft thanking everyone for their attendance and introducing Tricia Tucker from Women In Christian Ministries who talked about the importance of supporting survivors of domestic abuse.

There were four different types of bingo played at the event. The first two games were standard bingo, and the prizes were $20 Sheetz gift cards. The third game was X shaped bingo, and the prize was $25 Starbucks gift card. Z shaped bingo was played the fourth game, and a $25 Eat’n Park gift card was awarded to the winner of that round. The fifth game reverted back to standard bingo and the prize was another $20 Sheetz gift card. The sixth and final game was coverall bingo, and the winner received a $50 Primanti Bros gift card.

It was announced at the end of the event that $480 dollars was raised for women who suffer from domestic abuse. Dr. Jabro spoke about her satisfaction with the event, “Tonight’s event is one more example of a group of students coming into a course not knowing a lot about the course content and based on the smoothness of the event, the decorations, the mocktails, the bingo with all of the wonderful prizes, and making almost $500 dollars for a great cause, it was really enjoyable to watch, and this is what learning is all about.”
