This past weekend, Sabrina Carpenter wowed the Pittsburgh community with two back-to-back shows at PPG Paints Arena.
Jumping into the second leg of her Short and Sweet tour, the superstar performed both Thursday (10/23) and Friday (10/24) with little surprises sprinkled throughout both nights, drawing crowds of thousands and keeping them entertained for over three hours.
The shows started at 7 p.m. with openers Amber Mark and Olivia Dean – Dean known for her song Man I Need which recently blew up on social media platforms. Carpenter took the stage at promptly 9 p.m.
The crowd certainly did not disappoint as hundreds of spectators were dressed in Carpenter’s signature baby-doll dresses and white go-go boots, eagerly waiting for the star to emerge.
At Pittsburgh night one, Carpenter started her set with her hit song “Taste” and debuted her cheetah-print corset. Fans went wild as this was the first time it had ever been seen.
The fun didn’t stop there as Carpenter later proceeded to ‘arrest’ American fashion model and TV personality, Gigi Hadid, with her fuzzy pink handcuffs. Carpenter then sang her hit song “Juno,” in which she is known for featuring different positions at each performance.
Carpenter is also known for her spin-the-bottle game during her concerts, in which a bottle is spun in the middle of her heart-shaped stage that stretches into the audience. The bottle selects the next song that Carpenter performs.
On night one, Carpenter landed on “Nobody’s Son,” a song from her most recent album, Man’s Best Friend, released on Aug. 29th. On night two, Carpenter landed on “15 Minutes”, which is a deluxe song off her Short and Sweet album.
While it was the Short and Sweet tour, many fans were delighted to hear Carpenter sing songs off her newer album, such as “Manchild”, “Tears”, and “House Tour”.
“I was really hoping to hear songs off of Man’s Best Friend. “House Tour” is a favorite, and I was so shocked to get that on the setlist!” Long-time Sabrina Carpenter fan, Meagan Elaine of Moon Township, states.
One thing was made clear, and that was certainly the fact that Carpenter lives on Pretty Girl Avenue. The singer featured a dazzling lilac corset on night two and stunned spectators with a variety of outfit changes throughout the evening.
During her concert, Carpenter, a Pennsylvania native, expressed her gratitude for being able to perform in Pittsburgh and thanked the crowd for their support and kindness towards her Short and Sweet and Man’s Best Friend albums.
“So much of this new [Man’s Best Friend] album was created because of how you guys listened to the last album and touring, the first leg of the Short and Sweet tour, taught me so much about how I wanted to make songs…,” Carpenter said to the crowd on the second night.
She sang some of her most popular songs, such as “Please Please Please”, “Nonsense”, and “Feather”. To close out both shows, the artist ended with her Grammy-winning song, Espresso, before sparkling confetti shot into the crowd, bidding everyone a farewell.
Carpenter will continue on with her second leg of the Short and Sweet tour, ending in Los Angeles on Nov. 23.
