A Fight with a Banana and a Pipe leave a Pittsburgh Convenience Clerk in Jail

A Fight with a Banana and a Pipe leave a Pittsburgh Convenience Clerk in Jail

A fight, involving multiple bananas and a pipe leaves a convenience clerk in jail, and a customer in critical condition. Police reported the incident happened Monday, March 25th, at the Sunoco station on North Craig Street in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.

Surveillance video captured the customer coming in and throwing a banana at the clerk, who threw the banana back. Many bananas were thrown, leading to 26-year-old Yubaraj Budhathoki, an employee at the Sunoco, grabbing a pipe and repeatedly beating the customer in the head.

Members of the Oakland community have reported still feeling safe being in the area, and that this was an out-of-the-ordinary event.

The customer is in the hospital in critical condition. Budhathoki is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault. He is set for a preliminary hearing next month.
