Equipment on top of the Nicholson Center at Robert Morris University burst into flames late Thursday night around 12:50 a.m.
This came minutes after power was restored on campus after a power outage plunged campus and surrounding areas into darkness for more than a day.
Crews came and extinguished the fire promptly.
Many areas of the Nicholson building are closed except the PNC Food Court, Counseling Center, Patrick Henry first floor, Olsen Hall, and the AMC.
Romo’s Cafe is closed, as well as the Nicholson Mailroom.
An update sent by RMU Alert stated: “Employees who work in Nicholson or Patrick Henry Center should not report to campus or attempt to enter the building unless otherwise directed by a member of the university leadership team. You will receive additional instructions from your supervisor when they are available.”
RMU Staff members will be available at the Gazebo to answer any questions.
