A fire raced through an apartment building in Banksville Saturday morning. One person was taken to the hospital and multiple others were displaced.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, fire officials responded to a one-alarm fire in the 400 block of Mapleview Drive.
The fire was believed to have begun in the bedroom of an apartment, producing heavy smoke throughout the building.
A woman and cat were rescued by firefighters. The woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

According to officials, medics tried to save the cat but were unsuccessful.
Five children, sixteen adults, and two dogs are now receiving aid from the American Red Cross due to the fire.
An investigation of the situation is now underway.
