For the first time in program history, the RMU women’s hockey team will play an outdoor game against conference opponent Penn State.
The game will be played at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, January 31 as a part of the Hockey Valley doubleheader.
The Colonials are looking to improve on last year’s 8-24-3 record and they will get the chance to showcase their skills on the big stage. They will be led by returning leading goal scorer Morgan Giannone.
This fourth and final meeting between these rivals will be a great test for RMU moving through conference play. Reigning AHA champions Penn State are hoping to win a fourth consecutive title this year.
RMU failed to defeat Penn State in the ’24-’25 season and that is a streak they hope to end this year. The Colonials’ overtime win in February 2024 is the last time they defeated the Nittany Lions.
A growing Penn State’s men hockey team will face off against Michigan State in the other half of the double header. Puck drop time will be announced later in the season.
