After winning the Northeast Conference Championship and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament, the Robert Morris Colonials are slated to take on their familiar foe, the Air Force Falcons.
The Colonials (11-5) will be taking on the ASUN champs, the Air Force Falcons who finished the season (8-7)
The Colonials are coming off the NEC Championship game, in which they beat Detroit Mercy to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. This will be their fourth appearance, and it will be their first appearance since 2022.
The Colonials have put together a nice first season back in the NEC by going (6-1) in conference play. The Colonials played in the ASUN conference in the year prior.
RMU has had a committee of players that earned All-Tournament honors. Calum Brennan secured the tournament MVP honors while Nate Fechter, Bobby Reaume, and Owen Tapper made the All-Tournament team.
RMU and Air Force have met a total of 10 times since 2010 and ever since then, they have split their meetings. Robert Morris faced the Falcons six times during their time in the ASUN from 2021 to 2024. RMU won their first three meetings, including in the conference semifinal in 2022.
The Falcons have a three-game win streak over the Colonials, including last year’s regular season finale in Moon.
This year, Robert Morris is undefeated at home with a 7-0 record. This tied a program record six game win streak before it was snapped by Le Moyne in the season finale.
The two teams will go head to head on Wednesday, May 7 at Joe Walton Stadium. The faceoff is set for 5 p.m.
The winner of this matchup will be taking a trip to College Park, Md. to take on the Maryland Terrapins, on Sunday May 11, at 2:30 p.m.
