Wings, beer, and sports go hand in hand. Chances are when you go to sit down with some buddies and catch a game, you’ll have these appetizing fixtures around to help make the experience more enjoyable.

When it comes to deciding where to go to enjoy a night out, the popular choice often is a chain wing place. While there’s nothing wrong with that, a better option lies right in Pittsburgh’s backyard.

Sidelines Beer House in Sewickley opened in 2012, and has quickly become a favorite of residents in the surrounding area. The main reason for its popularity has to do with the variety of food and drink options.

The sports bar offers 39 different sauces and seasonings for its chicken wings. A customer can order anything from traditional hot and sriracha honey, to flavors as exotic as peanut butter and jelly.

If wings aren’t your thing, the restaurant also offers sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and if you’re up for it, a 5-patty bacon cheeseburger food challenge.

Possibly the most attractive part of the Beer House’s menu is, well, the beer. With a wide selection of brews imported from 18 different countries, this is the place to come to if you want something outside of the usual American breweries.

Selections such as Staroprame from the Czech Republic, Young’s Double Chocolate Stout from England, and Tsingtao Lager from Japan as well as about 100 more are all available to try when you come to visit.

Jared Prendergast, a native of Bridgeville, believes Sidelines beats out the other sports bars in the area by a long shot.

“The amount of beer choices they have here is ridiculous,” said Prendergast. “This is by far my favorite place to come down to unwind after work.”

When it comes to the wings, Prendergast has a few personal favorites, but admits everyone he has tried has been good.

“Every flavor is something different, but they are all delicious,” he said. “I want to try all of them eventually, and I’m well on my way.”

Sidelines is open everyday from 11:30 am until 2 am. It’s located at 518 Locust Place.
