VEVO and The Kid LAROI

The Kid LAROI has released a new song, Heaven. He had this to say via his Instagram on January 24th. “HEAVEN” comes out in 2 days. This one’s super personal for a lot of different reasons. It’s about evolving and leaving the past behind. changing the way you once thought and perceived the world growing up! I don’t wanna ramble too much about it because it’s better if you just listen lmao but I wanna remind you that it’s never too late to be who you want to be and whatever you may be going through or feeling won’t last forever.. trust me! 🤍”

I would like to break down the lyrics. The Kid LAROI started off with “They told me that they miss the old me, I don’t unholy, lowlife, and lonely, I know.” When looking at this and then looking at his quote, The Kid LAROI said “It’s about evolving and leaving the past behind.” I would have to say he hit the nail on the head. I think he makes it clear that for lack of better terms does not miss the old person he was, he is happy with the progress he has made.

I think The Kid LAROI makes it clear why he does not miss the old him. He goes on to say “’Cause I was reckless, drinking every night And gettin’ high, nothin’ there behind my eyes I was numb inside, and I can’t believe that I even stayed alive ’til you walked up in my life and now.” It is pretty admirable that The Kid LAROI wants to change his life, that he is realizing that being reckless is not a smart idea and really not needed.

The next lyric says “Heaven is a place I don’t wanna go ‘Cause when I see your face, I don’t wanna die no more Heaven is a place I don’t wanna go ‘Cause when I see your face, I don’t wanna die no morе Mm, die no more, no more, no morе Every time I pray, all I’m asking for Is another day, I don’t wanna die no more Ooh, die no more, no more, no more.” I think this lyric tells us what in The Kid LAROI’s life was bringing him down. By this verse, we can see that he was in what he felt was an unhealthy relationship, making him a person he did not want to be.

The Kid LAROI then says “You found my walls and tore them down Never afraid of what you found You know my past, you asked around But you can feel I’m different now.” This verse to me is saying that The Kid LAROI in a way felt trapped in his old relationship. He felt there was no way even if he wanted to get out that he had to go to other means to mask his feelings or lack thereof.

Then he says “Won’t look back, life ain’t gotta be so sad Dug me out the grave and you brought me back I’ll never be the same now, fuck all that (Ooh) And now.” I think this clearly hits on the point that The Kid LAROI was going for in the song. By saying “Won’t look back.” I think if we were to ask him about his past relationship he would say that he probably missed some signs and instead kept pushing through and that is something he very much regrets.

I think this song from a music standpoint is definitely a change up for The Kid LAROI. It’s a pretty slow song, unlike his usual work. This is more of a song with a deeper meaning compared to his usual rap.

If you are looking for a song about improving yourself or maybe you’re the type that listens to Juice Wrld or X, then this is a song for you.
