Freezing rain, snow and ice trigger Winter Weather Advisory

PITTSBURGH – The National Weather Service in Pittsburg has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Pittsburgh region.
According to officials, a combination of freezing rain, ice and snow will begin Thursday evening and extend into the overnight period.
The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 12 a.m. Friday morning.
Spotty precip possible tonight and early morning before more widespread precip after daybreak. Areas north of Pittsburgh where temps will be slower to rise above freezing could see some brief light freezing rain. An advisory will be need if overnight precip chances increase.

Portions of western PA, Ohio and West Virginia will see a light coat of ice and snow in higher elevations.
The National Weather Service warns drivers to slow down and use caution driving and to expect slippery conditions.
The NWS urges community members to report snow or ice by calling 412-262-1988, posting to the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook Page or using their Twitter page.
