Alfery named U-ADE NEC Player of the Week after impressive debut

Junior Grove City transfer goalie Brenden Alfery turned heads in RMU men’s soccer’s two opening games of the 2014 season this past weekend.

In his RMU debut, Alfery made nine saves, three of which were in overtime as the Colonials tied Hartwick. His penalty-kick save in the second overtime highlighted the outing and secured the tie for Robert Morris, however he wasn’t done yet.

In the ensuing contest against Rider, Alfery shutout the Broncos in 75 minutes of action as Robert Morris prevailed 3-0. He has 14 saves to one goal in his first two career appearances, posting a .929 save percentage.

RMU is back in action on Friday, Sept. 5th as they travel to Wright State.
