This weekend the Robert Morris University cross-country team is competing in the sixth annual Canisius College Alumni Classic. The meet will be held in Delaware Park at Canisius College Saturday at noon. This is the third meet that the Colonials’ nine runners will participate in this season. They previously ran in the Duquesne Duals at Duquesne and the Tommy Evans Invitational at Akron.

Robert Morris, as a team, has ran decently to start off the year, finishing eighth in the aforementioned Tommy Evans Invitational. The team was led by the sophomore class with the top three finishers from RMU all being sophomores. Sami Felton, Tara Richardson and Martha Gardner, are all sophomores and they finished at 20:02, 20:27 and 20:34 respectively.

The next two runners in from RMU were also underclassmen with freshmen Laura Lintelman and Brynn Adams coming in at 21:23 and 22:21 in the 5k course. It certainly looks like this team is relying on its youth to push them forward into the rankings.

The competing teams in this race are The University at Buffalo, Buffalo State, Daemen, Detroit Mercury, Niagara, Seton Hill, Geneseo, Youngstown State and, of course, host school Canisius. As for opposing runners to watch out for, Canisius’ own Siobhan Quinn is quite an athlete as she won the Paul Short race that Canisius competed in back in September.
