Four former RMU men’s lacrosse players selected in NLL Draft

On Monday, September 16, 2013 men’s lacrosse graduate Jake Hayes was selected in the fifth round of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft by the Calgary Roughnecks.

Alongside Hayes, RMU lacrosse alums Mitch Wilde, Kevin Neufeld, and Tyler Digby were also selected in the draft. Wilde went to the Buffalo Bandits, while Neufeld and Digby went to the Vancouver Ravens.

Shortly after being selected, Hayes tweeted, “Couldn’t be more excited by being selected by the ‪@NLLRoughnecks. Dream come true, thank you to everyone congratulating me! ‪#newchapter

The Calgary, Alberta native is looking forward to getting the chance to play in his hometown.

“It is going to be great if I get the opportunity to play in front my friends and family,” said Hayes.

The 2014 NLL season gets underway on December 28.
