Robert Morris freshman guard Jennica Suggs has been named the Horizon League’s Freshman of the Week on Monday.
She is the first Colonial to win the honor since Sol Castro did during the 2020-21 season.
Suggs reached her career-high in points twice last week, scoring six against Oakland on Thursday, then eleven on Saturday against Detroit Mercy. She also recorded a total of four steals in those two games as well.
Head coach Chandler McCabe praised Suggs on X, posting “Kid has been in the extra work and it’s translating. So much farther to go too!”
After her best two games in her young collegiate career, the Minnesota native now averages 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and and just under one steal per contest.
Suggs is the younger sister of Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs, who reached the National Championship game at Gonzaga as a freshman in 2021.
The Colonials are in the midst of a three game conference winning streak, the program’s longest in four years. The will play host to Wright State on Wednesday at the UPMC Events Center at 7 p.m.
