With summer workouts underway, women’s basketball sophomore forward Sol Castro will look to further burnish her already solid credentials at the FIBA Women’s Americup, representing the Argentina Senior National team in the tournament.

The tournament will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico from June 11-19. Castro will play for Argentina in Group B, doing battle against the likes of The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, The United States, and Venezuela. Group A is represented by Canada, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, and The Virgin Islands.

Despite struggling early on in her collegiate career to get consistent statistics, Castro seemed to flick a switch in the middle part of the season, becoming the highest scorer and rebounder on the team. Castro contributed six consecutive double-digit point efforts, two games over 20 points, and three double-doubles. For her efforts, she was named Horizon League Player of the Week once and named to the All-Freshman Team.

Castro has a tough task to prepare for in San Juan, trying to get in game shape for team Argentina. She will help the Colonials attempt to out-do their four-win season in 2020-21.
