Fashion Favorites

For all the busy girls out there, I thought I would devote this column to an ongoing struggle I’ve dealt with for 19 years. In this day and age, there is no such thing as “free time.” Between juggling school, work, boyfriends, drama….etc, a girl’s wardrobe can be thrown on the backburner. To help with this, I would like to share some of my favorite, basic articles of clothing, and where to find them.

Starting from the bottom, shoes make the whole outfit. If you did not know that, this is the perfect time to make a mental note. For walking from class to class, Vans are the perfect shoe for any outfit and are on the cheap side. Vans can be worn with jeans and leggings or can be paired with a little black dress. Jeans on the other hand are not that simple. It took me many years to find a perfect pair of jeans that complimented my body from every angle. I know everybody’s bodies are different so I am not going to name a specific pair, however, Pac Sun and Urban Outfitters are a great place to start your search. Their jeans range in variety and cater to every body type. FYI, you can never go wrong with skinny jeans.

Now getting to the fun part, tops and outerwear.  In my opinion, oversized sweaters and blouses are everything. Wildfox couture hands down has the best-oversized knits on earth. Vests are also a piece of clothing that should be a staple in all girls’ closets. My favorite vests are from Willi’s ski shop. As crazy as it sounds, the men’s vests are much more versatile than women’s.  The reason I like Willi’s ski shop is because their outerwear is made for skiing and snowboarding; the vests keep you very warm, especially when walking around on a college campus. Hopefully these basic items will be helpful and find their way into your closets.
