RMU Celebrates MLK

RMU+Celebrates+MLK

Having no classes on Monday, Jan. 16 is not the only way RMU will be celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

From Jan. 16 to Jan. 21, RMU’s Black Male Excellence Network (B-MEN), Black Student Union (BSU), MLK/Black History Month Committee, Office of Residence Life, Office of Student Civic Engagement and Office of Student Life are sponsoring several activities in honor of MLK Week 2012.

The Office of Multicultural Student Services invites all students to take part in the week-long celebration.

Below is a list of the activities taking place throughout the week.

Monday, Jan. 16

Candlelight Vigil – Rogal Chapel – 5:30 p.m.

MLK Memorial Service – Rogal Chapel – 6 p.m.


Wednesday, Jan. 18

MLK Timeline Table – Nicholson Center Food Court – 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 19

Black Male Excellence Network (B-MEN) Meeting – Hale Center, Room 203 – 7 p.m.


Saturday, Jan. 21 

MLK Day of Service – 9 a.m. to Noon – Contact the Office of Student Civic Engagement for more information and to register

Movie:  Our Friend Martin – RoMo’s Café – 7 p.m.

All Week

Freedom Quilt – Nicholson Center Food Court – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A senior journalism major at Robert Morris University, Andrea serves as a staff member this semester, writing and producing packages for all aspects of RMU Sentry Media. She previously served as the editor-in-chief for the 2012-2013 school year as well as the news editor from spring 2011 to fall 2012 and assistant news editor in spring 2012.
