9/29/2021- Departmental Information: A student reported their microwave was on fire in Yorktown Hall. Officers responded but the smoke had dissipated. RMU Maintenance was notified to ventilate the room. The case is closed.

 

9/29/21- Fire Alarm-Smoke Detector Activated: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Lexington Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be burnt food. The fire department was cancelled. The panel was reset. RMU Maintenance was notified. This case is closed.

 

9/29/21- Lost Property: A student walked in the Barry Center to report their purse missing in the Hale Center. Officers reviewed the cameras. The student called back to say they had found the purse. The case is closed.

 

9/29/21- Fire Alarm-Smoke Detector Activated: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Salem Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be steam from the shower. The fire department was cancelled. The panel was reset. This case is closed.

 

9/29/21- Property Damage: Students reported being stuck in their room in Adams Hall. Officers responded to find RMU Maintenance on scene. The students had another student break the door before waiting for officers. Residence life was notified. The case is closed.

 

9/30/21- Student Conduct Covid: RMU Police assisted Residence Life with a student who was breaking the Covid isolation policy. Another student was found inside Gallatin Hall without permission. Two students will be sent through Student Conduct for violating the Covid policy. This case is closed.

 

9/30/21- Smell of Marijuana: A student reported the smell of burnt marijuana in Yorktown Hall. Officers responded and notified Residence Life. Officers identified two students who stated they had smoked. Two students will be sent through Student Conduct for violating the drug policy. The case is closed.

 

10/01/21- Vehicle Lock Out: Officer assisted a student in the Upper Events Center Lot with a successful vehicle lock out. This case is closed.

 

10/01/21- Theft of Property Lost or Mislaid: A parent reported their child’s hockey equipment was stolen from the RMU Island Sports Center. RMU Police reviewed the cameras and determined the equipment was not stolen but left behind. An Operations Associate picked up the equipment and placed it in the office for safe keeping. The case is closed.

 

10/02/21- Disturbance/Loud Music or People: RMU Police received an anonymous noise complaint for Salem Hall. Officers responded and made contact with the students. They were told to turn the music down due to quiet hours. They apologized. This case is closed.

 

10/02/21- Fire Alarm-Smoke Detector Activated: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Salem Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be steam from the shower. The fire department was cancelled. The panel was reset. RMU maintenance was notified. The case is closed.

 

10/02/21- Student Conduct Alcohol: RMU Police observed an intoxicated student outside Salem Hall. The student was transported back to Yorktown Hall. One student will be sent through Student Conduct for violating the alcohol policy. This case is closed.

 

10/03/21- Disturbance/Loud Music or People: Residence Life reported a possible party in Adams Hall. Officers responded along with Res Life staff. Four students will be sent through Student Conduct for violating the alcohol policy. The case is closed.

 

10/03/21- Departmental Property Damage or Lost: Allegheny County 911 reported a motor vehicle accident at the RMU Island Sports Center. Ohio Township Police responded to the scene and investigated the accident. RMU Maintenance was notified to assist with the damaged sign. This case is closed.

 

10/03/21- Fire Alarm-False Alarm: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Salem Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be unknown. The room was unoccupied. The fire department and RMU Maintenance arrived on scene and discovered a faulty smoke detector head. The panel was reset. The case is closed.

 

10/03/21- Departmental Information: Residence Life staff reported they sent a student to the hospital. This case is closed.

 

10/03/21- Medical Emergency: A visitor attending the concert in the UPMC Events Center experienced a medical episode. They were treated by medics and transported to the hospital. The case is closed.

 

10/04/21- Fire Alarm-False Alarm: Guardian Protection reported a fire alarm activation in Salem Hall. Officers responded and found the cause to be unknown. The fire department was cancelled. The panel was reset. RMU maintenance was notified. This case is closed.
