A contractor was flown to a Coraopolis-area trauma center on Friday after falling about forty feet while working on Robert Morris University’s campus.
The incident occurred during a roofing job at Washington Hall. The Valley Ambulance Authority reported on Facebook that the man sustained “life threatening injuries” when emergency crews arrived at the scene around noon.
Robert Morris University police and the Moon Township fire department responded to the reported fall, alongside emergency crews. The quick action of emergency personnel provided critical life-saving interventions.
Advanced life support measures used on scene allowed the patient to be transported by medical helicopter to receive special treatment, but an update is not available on the man’s condition as of Saturday.
Falls in construction remain a major hazard, as OSHA reports that falls are the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in construction. About one-third of all construction injuries can be attributed to falls.
The circumstances of the accident have not been revealed.
