There is a new face in the Robert Morris Athletic Department who will be joining the women’s hockey program. The team announced early Tuesday the hiring of Mia Del Rosso to join Logan Bittle’s coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.
At the end of April, former RMU assistant coach Keri Clougherty announced that she will be leaving the program. Following her departure from Bittles’s staff, Clougherty joined Merrimack College as an assistant coach for the women’s hockey team for the next season.
At RMU, Del Rosso will be tasked with working with the defensive corps, along with several areas of the program’s day-to-day operations.
“I’m really excited to join Logan, Liam, the team, and RMU Athletics,” Del Rosso said.
Del Rosso, a native of Hingham, Mass., joins RMU with a fair amount of coaching experience, with her most recent stint as an assistant coach at Trinity College for the past five seasons. During her time at Trinity College, she helped play a role in player development and special teams.
Before Del Rosso began coaching, she was a star student-athlete at Amherst College for three seasons in the NESCAC. In the 2019-20 season, she helped Amherst capture a NESCAC championship with a win over one-seeded Middlebury, 2-1.
Along with Del Rossos’ championship collegiate experience, she was selected to train in the Chinese Ice Hockey Association’s women’s national development program ahead of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She gained experience at an international level while playing under KRS-Vanke Rays, who were led by Bob Deraney and then Brian Idalski following Deraney’s departure in the 2018-19 season.
Not only is the newest member of the staff ready to join the program, but Coach Bittle is excited for Del Rosso to be a part of the program, saying, “We can’t wait for Mia to get started here at Bobby Mo.”
Bittle added, “We’re not just adding a coach with great experience; we’re adding a great person. She’ll be an outstanding member of the Colonial Hockey family, and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll have on our program.”
Although the Colonials’ official season schedule has not been fully released, Del Rosso and the Colonials will open AHA play on Oct. 2-3 as they travel to Penn State for a two-game series.
