Robert Morris Softball is off to a historic start to its 2026 season, which those in the Horizon League are starting to recognize. For the third consecutive week and the fifth time this season, the conference’s player of the week award has gone to a Colonial, this time Aglaia Rudd, her second of the season.
Mary Brant, Courtney Poulich, and fellow transfer Ellie Facher have all also picked up the award this season, a sign of the sheer dominance RMU has displayed in the first weeks of their season.
Following a series sweep of Green Bay in the opening weekend of Horizon League play, the Colonials moved to 15-6 on the season and are unbeaten in their last eight games. Across the three outings against the Phoenix, RMU scored 30 runs while conceding 16.
Rudd hit two home runs during the series, including one that ended the second game of the series in a run rule at the bottom of the fifth inning.
The former freshman of the year ended the series going 8-11 at bat and averaging a 1.455 slugging percentage, also tallying six RBIs.
Rudd has been a revelation at the plate for RMU, adding more salt to the already fiery lineup of Poulich, Brant, Kaylyn Hopf, Sequioa Dunlap, and now newcomers like freshman Alivia Hare and Kent State transfer Ellie Facher.
In her 19 games this season, Rudd leads the team in on-base percentage (1.821) and batting average (.613), as well as slugging percentage (1.194) and hits (38).
Rudd also has nine home runs and 25 RBI this season, second on the team to Courtney Poulich, whose 12 home runs are just four short of the program record, which she set last year with 16.
The numbers, to put it bluntly, are insane for RMU. The reigning champions, who currently sit atop the standings at 3-0, have only added to an already record-breaking lineup and are set to shatter almost every record they set last year, if not every hitting record in general.
Currently, the Colonials’ eight-game win streak is nine shy of the program record of 17 set in 1992. They’ll look to collect three more of those this weekend when they face Oakland. Their matchup against the Golden Grizzlies is scheduled for 3 P.M. on Friday, as well as a doubleheader on Saturday that starts at noon.
