Robert Morris’ softball program has shown no signs of slowing down after its first Horizon League championship. In just 9 games this season, the team has already racked up 92 runs on 98 hits, as well as 19 home runs and 81 RBIs.
While some of that return is credited to returning big hitters like Courtney Poulich, Mary Brant, Kaylyn Hopf, and Sequoia Dunlap, the two transfers RMU has gained in the offseason have been making their names heard.
After Purdue Fort Wayne transfer Agalia Rudd picked up the conference’s first player of the week award, Kent State transfer Eloise Facher has followed in her teammate’s footsteps and picked up the second consecutive player of the week honor in as many weeks.
The junior from Shaler returned home after two seasons with the Golden Flashes, where she proved to be an impressive bat, but over last weekend’s series, Facher showed she’s just another dangerous piece in an already lethal Colonial lineup.
So far in her Colonial career, Facher has recorded a batting average of .538, an on-base percentage of 1.609%, and a slugging percentage of 1.038%.
In her five games in the Spartan Classic, Facher made contact two times every game, resulting in seven runs and three home runs.
Her efforts saw the Colonials go 3-2 on the weekend and move to 5-4 overall in the early goings of the season. The team currently sits 4th in the NCAA in batting average (.403), runs per game (10.22), and slugging percentage (.724).
Fans will still have to wait a couple of weeks before the Colonials return home, as the team will head back down south for the Catamount Classic in North Carolina.
The Colonials will have matchups with the University of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Western California to look forward to this weekend, before finally coming home the following week.
They’ll make a Pitt stop in Oakland on March 11 for a game against the Panthers, before returning to the home diamond at the North Athletic Complex on Saturday, March 14, for a series against Mercyhurst.
