Man taken into custody following a multi-vehicle University Blvd. accident

MOON TOWNSHIP- A multi-vehicle accident on University Boulevard took place outside of the Robert Morris University campus and resulted in what appeared to be an arrest.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident that took place at the intersection of University Boulevard and Campus Drive. Moon Township Police Department and emergency medical staff responded to the scene at approximately 4:28 p.m. Monday afternoon.

A navy blue Jeep Grand Cherokee sustained damage to the front of the vehicle and was sitting next to the Advanced Auto Parts parking lot.

To the left of the Jeep, was a navy blue Kia Sorento. The Kia appeared to have veered onto the sidewalk where it damaged a bench and a button to control crosswalks.

The front left wheel of the Sorento was ripped from the car. It was found several yards behind the vehicle along with pieces of the vehicle’s fender.

In the middle of the boulevard, a navy blue Dodge experienced extreme damage to the front passenger side.

An older white male was taken into police custody shortly after the at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Both the Dodge and the Kia were towed from the scene.

Traffic was disrupted until approximately 5:00 p.m.

It is unclear if anyone was seriously injured and the cause of the accident is still unknown.
