Just over two weeks ago, Robert Morris Men’s Basketball showed to-be Horizon League regular season champs Wright State that if they wanted to be the best, they had to beat the best. Unable to overcome that feat in Moon Township, the Raiders were handed a second opportunity on their home court Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for Wright State, back-to-back freshman of the week, Darius Livingston, showed up and showed out – scoring a career-high 24 points to help the Colonials walk away with an 81-68 victory.
The Orlando native shot a lights out 85% from the arc added to his 75% FG%. Livingston also had two steals and an assist to his name.
The win moves the Colonials up to second in the Horizon League, and sit 2 games behind the Raiders with as many games remaining. Wright State has already secured their share of a regular-season championship, but RMU remains alive in their pursuit for a second consecutive regular season title.
Livingston’s numbers weren’t the only highlight, as once again the defense held Wright State to below their season averages in points, rebounds, and field goal percentage.
Desean Goode continued to make his case for player of the year, scoring 16 points and pushing his streak of double-digit points to six consecutive games. The IU Indy transfer also collected nine rebounds and an assist against the Raiders.
The Colonials now return home to close out the regular season, and should remain there for an additional game in the playoffs if trends continue as they have.
Andy Toole’s men are riding a five game win-streak and will turn their focus to Detroit Mercy who comes to the UPMC Events Center on Wednesday, February 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 P.M. and will be available on Sports Net Pittsburgh.
