After losing several players to the transfer portal this offseason, women’s basketball added a player on Wednesday when Dawson Community College (JUCO) transfer Ashya Klopfenstein announced her commitment to Robert Morris.

Klopfenstein, who spent the last two seasons at Dawson, is a six-foot-one center from Howe, Indiana. This season at Dawson, Klopfenstein averaged 13.1 points and 8.3 rebounds in 28 games with the Buccaneers. She shot 53.2-percent from the field and 55.6-percent from beyond the arc.
This is a huge addition to the Colonials’ frontcourt, who lost Holly Forbes, Sydney Palermo, Yasmine Sifaoui and Trinity Papamandjaris as forward depth on the team.
Last season, Robert Morris went 4-13 overall and 4-12 in-conference in their first season in the Horizon League. With this addition, the Colonials now have a complement in the frontcourt to complement Sol Castro and Natalie Villaflor.
