Leondre Washington to transfer from Robert Morris

After a tumultuous end to the RMU basketball season for guard Leondre Washington, the freshman has decided to take his talents elsewhere as the team has granted Washington his release from the team.

According to a statement from a University official “He(Washington) quit the team at the end of the year and wanted to come back, but it was decided it was in the best interest of the program for him to transfer,”

Washington averaged 23.7 minutes in the 24 games that he played in a Colonials uniform this season. putting up 8.4 points per game including a career-high 20 points against NEC regular season champion Wagner.

Washington only earned 10 minutes of playing time in his final game of the season on Feb. 17 against Central Connecticut State. This game came after the missing the previous two games before it. Washington would sit out the remaining two regular season games and the two RMU playoff games.

Right now, Washington is free to transfer to any team willing to take him. This announcement comes as the first transfer request of the year for RMU after the team saw six players depart the team early last season.
