On Monday, the Horizon League announced that Chase Gilley and Friedrich Petrelli swept the board in Horizon League Player of the Week honors.

Gilley is no stranger to the award, having won it last week as well for Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week. He made headlines Saturday afternoon when he recorded his first career hat trick as the Colonials topped Milwaukee 5-0.

Gilley became the second Colonial in the past two seasons to get a hat trick in a match, joining teammate Bryan Akongo when he scored three against VMI. Gilley helped the Colonials record the most goals in a game since 2019.

On the other side of the pitch, Petrelli was awarded Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week. He secured his first shutout of the season in the 5-0 matchup against Milwaukee, making him one of three goalkeepers in the Horizon League to get one.

The sophomore goalkeeper had four saves in the game after facing 18 shots, 10 of which in the second half as the Panthers were ramping up the pressure, trying to get on the board. Petrelli comes to Moon Township all the way from Hamburg, Germany, an essential asset to the team in the net.

Back at home this Wednesday, the Colonials will take on Saint Francis at 2 p.m. where they hope to keep their winning streak alive.
