The RMU Women’s soccer team secured their first win in Horizon League play this season with a win over the Detroit Mercy Titans last week.
Following the shutout win, junior Emma Cameron was named Horizon League defender of the week.
The transfer keeper from Hofstra, who had no college experience before this season, has stepped up for the team in the early goings this year, starting in eight of the first ten games for the Colonials.
In those games, Cameron has recorded three shutouts and 29 saves.
Last Thursday, Cameron recorded six saves in the 1-0, shutout win over the Titans. She also stopped four shots in the last ten minutes of the game to secure the first conference win for the Colonials this season.
Cameron and the Colonials will look to improve their Horizon League Status with their next three games being on the road. The Colonials will travel to Kentucky to take on Northern Kentucky this Saturday at 1 PM, then followed by a trip to Indiana as the Colonials take on IU Indy October 9 and Purdue Fort Wayne on October 12.
