Robert Morris took to the court against the Drexel Dragons in the first round of the WNIT in Philadelphia, Pa.

Here is everything you need to know as the Colonials kept their season alive and advanced in the tournament with a 57-44 victory.

Why it happened:

Drexel ended the first quarter on an 8-0 run, leading 19-10, helping them find some cushion in the score column after neither team was able to find much separation in the early minutes. The Dragons ended the opening 10 minutes on an 8-0 run as they found a rhythm from long range, hitting four 3-pointers in the first quarter. Drexel also was able to take advantage of their full-court press on the Colonials as the Colonials had a tough time breaking the tight defense, leading to 15 first-half turnovers for the Colonials. The Colonials finished the game with 22 total turnovers.

Drexel kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half, preventing a Colonials comeback as they kept a firm grasp on the game and the lead. It was the fifth time the Colonials have been held to under 50 points in a game this season and the fourth in which they lost.

What it means:

The loss ends the Colonials’ season. They will finish with a 25-8 overall record. For Drexel, they will move on in the WNIT and play Fordham in the second round of the tournament.

Who starred:

Bailey Greenberg led Drexel’s offense finishing in double-figures scoring with 14 total points. Greenberg shot 6-of-13 from the field along with grabbing four rebounds. Senior Kelsi Lidge and freshman Hannah Nihill also contributed 10 points for the dragons. Lidge also led Drexel in rebounds with six.

Who is next:

The Colonials’ incredible season comes to an end as they finish the season with 25 wins, a program record. The Megan Smith, Makalah Mulrain, Jocelynne Jones and Shakema Dashiell era came to an end as well for the RMU women’s basketball program.
