September Moon student athletes of the month

Moon Area High School selected Sam Vachino and Conor Suchar as their female and male student-athletes of the month, sponsored by Eggs N’at, for the month of September.
Vachino was chosen for this award due to her leadership and success in her sport and the classroom. Vachino is a senior on the female varsity tennis team, who is well respected by her coaches and teammates.
Suchar is the men’s soccer goalie and had 57 saves and five shutouts in eight games in the month of September. Suchar, unfortunately, could not be reached for comment.
At the time of her selection, Vachino was 9-0 and on the way to helping her team secure a section title.
When asked what this selection meant to her she said, “It means that all of my handwork and dedication over these last four years has finally been recognized.”
Vachino also recognized her personal coach in Montour for putting her on the right path in her athletic career. Vachino also said that her personal coach gives her that extra motivation to play better when she is playing her athletes outside of her personal coaching time.
Between tennis, school, and band, Vachino does not feel stressed or strapped for time. Vachino is able to hang out with her friends during these times which helps in dealing with the stress that high school brings.
Vachino hopes to help bring her team a section title this year and even plans on winning that WPIAL championship that all teams dream of achieving.
