Throughout February, Robert Morris University will be hosting events to commemorate Black History Month.

On Wednesday, February 15, there will be a Black History Month Luncheon from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Sewall Center dining room. Guest speaker Dr. Samuel Black of the Heinz History Museum will be presenting “From Slavery to Freedom: Pittsburgh and the Underground Railroad.” The luncheon is free for all students, $5 for faculty/staff and $10 for guests. RSVP by calling the Office of Student Life at (412) 397-4352.

On Tuesday, February 28, the Office of Residence Life and the Black Student Union will be holding a reenactment of the famous March on Washington. It will take place at 5:00 p.m. on the Nicholson Center front lawn. Students, faculty and staff are welcome and encouraged to join in.

In addition, RMU Dining Services will be preparing soul food entrees available for lunch every Wednesday of this month in the Nicholson Center Food Court. Also in the food court, the Black Student Union will be having a “Great African Americans” seminar every Friday to celebrate important Africans Americans in history.
