On Aug 11, 1998, a 42-year-old reporter was found dead in her home, after being stabbed 43 times during a burglary, with a butcher knife from her kitchen. The DNA from the knife did not match William’s DNA, but the victim’s purse and Gayle’s husband’s laptop were stolen from their house. Police later found both items inside of a car that Williams owned.
Over 25 witnesses were involved, including Henry Cole and Laura Asaro. Cole claimed that Williams admitted to the murder of Gayle, while both Williams and Cole served time for other charges. Lara Asaro, his former girlfriend also claimed that Williams admitted to the murder and that he added details of what happened that night.
However, there was no DNA or evidence of Williams being there while the incident occurred, which is the sad part of the story. Not only was there no evidence but he was later convicted in 2001, from only the two testimonies.
Williams’ story hit social media in early August 2024, reaching over 1.2 Million people. This movement started by making and uploading videos to start a popular petition.
September 24th, Williams sadly didn’t get his justice and left the world with one final sentence, “All praise be to Allah, in every situation!”
“My father’s soul was very intelligent, and a very beautiful man,” said his son, Marcellus Williams Jr. Everyone around the world was greatly impacted by this decision as well.
