Spicy Presentations!

Session 5
October 27, 2013
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Today we learned how to Spice Up Our Presentation Skills with John V. Trahan!

There are 3 P’s of Presentations: People, Purpose, and Passion. If you don’t have these three P’s your presentations can’t be spicy. You always have to speak with power. You must understand what is important to your audience and go with that. If you don’t hook them in the beginning, you lose. You also must be audience appropriate.

In the body of your presentation should be organized. You should have a logical sequence of points, clear transitions, clearly state your main points, tell stories throughout, and support materials that are localized, personal, and conversational. “It’s not what people say, it’s how they make you feel.”

During your conclusion, you should end on a positive note and clearly state your summary.

John stated, “If you don’t believe in what you’re speaking about, I won’t either.” If you remember this you will go far with spicy presentations. Your audience should believe in what you’re talking about and so should you. You should always leave them begging for more.

John told us that all great speakers are always nervous. It’s normal to be nervous, it’s how you handle it is what makes you a good speaker. You must listen, pause, think, answer…and breathe.

John was a really great speaker and a lot of interesting tips to spicing up my presentation skills.
