ST. CHARLES, Mo.– After taking the first two games of the season against the Lindenwood Lions (0-4, 0-4 CHA), the Robert Morris women’s hockey team (2-0, 2-0 CHA) will hit the road to take on the Lions once again in a two-game set in St. Charles, Missouri. The Colonials look to take both games similarly to last weekend, which will take place at 8:05 p.m. on Thursday and 2:05 p.m. Friday.

Recapping RMU

The Colonials began the season with a 4-2 victory over the Lions, however, it came with some difficulties as Lindenwood tied the game early in the third period. It was freshmen Ellie Marcovsky though who came up clutch to bury the Lions with a late-game power-play goal.

The next day, RMU easily handled the Lions, 4-0, thanks to a 21 save shutout from Arielle DeSmet. Eight different players registered a point for the Colonials in their victory.

Scouting Lindenwood

Lindenwood has dropped its first four games of its schedule as they have been outscored 15-3 on the young season. They did show some resilience against the Colonials in their first matchup with both Hannah Alt and Sierra Burt scoring to tie the game in the third period, but they could not get the edge over RMU.

The Lions will be looking for their first win of the season as they take on Robert Morris for their home-opening series of the year at the Centene Community Ice Center.

Players To Watch

Emily Curlett (RMU) – Curlett through the first two games has been a force on the ice as she has generated opportunities time and time again. She fired a one-timer that was redirected by Maggy Burbidge for the first goal of the Colonials season. Just moments later she scored on an individual effort for her first goal of the season. Curlett’s ability to create scoring chances with her blistering shot will be important in this two-game series as she has 15 total shots, which is tied for the team lead so far.

Ellie Marcovsky (RMU) – The freshman has been extremely noticeable through the opening two games of the season. She was put in the spotlight when she buried the game-winning goal on the power-play late in the third period on opening night. Marcovsky also added another power-play point in the second contest with an assist to Michaela Boyle.

Jane Jacobs (LU) – Jacobs has one of the Lions’ three goals on the season, scoring against Penn St. back on November 30. She also has an assist on the season, which came on Sierra Burt’s power-play goal in the first matchup with the Colonials. She will look to improve her point total on home ice in this series.

Hannah Alt (LU) – The senior scored against the Colonials last Thursday on a great individual effort cutting into the middle and shooting one back across her body to beat Raygan Kirk low blocker side. Her quick skating ability will be a factor for the Lions as she looks to continue to make an impact on their third line.

Prediction

Last year the Colonials went 8-5-3 on the road as they look to have similar success, if not a better road record this season. Look for Robert Morris to have strong performances in both games once again with them winning 5-1 on Thursday, followed by a 3-0 victory on Friday.
